2016 PGA Championship live stream: How to watch Sunday’s Round online

More storms could make Sunday a washout at the PGA.

The PGA Championship may be headed for the first Tuesday finish at a major since 1956. We’ve still got a ways to go before we get to Tuesday, but the fact that it has even entered the discussion surrounding the coverage of this year’s PGA is an indicator of how big a challenge this weekend could be at Baltusrol.

The horn blew at 2:15 p.m. during Saturday’s third round, with just 37 players of the 86 remaining in the field through 54 holes. The last five groups had not even teed off yet. They may not at all on Sunday either, with the forecast calling for storms throughout the morning and afternoon in northern New Jersey.

The schedule, which was set out with the optimistic hope that the forecast will be wrong, will have the third-round field back in place at 7 a.m. Those last five tee times will also start going off No. 1 at that time too, ending with Jimmy Walker and Robert Streb, the 36-hole leaders, at 7:40 a.m. They will then play their entire third round, ideally finishing up around noon. Meanwhile, behind them, the fourth round will start with the PGA opting to not re-pair the players according to score. So everyone is playing with their same partner from Saturday, and there will be two rounds running concurrently for much of the day. That’s if conditions stay safe and playable, which seems unlikely.

TNT and PGA.com have adjusted their early round coverage, moving up a few hours from the originally planned 11 a.m. start time. The TV broadcast will now be live on TNT at 9 a.m. and the PGA.com marquee group stream will be going at 8 a.m. Those streams will be focused on the third rounds of Martin Kaymer and Henrik Stenson, and then Jordan Spieth and Yuta Ikeda. Those are two tee times who were off late in the day on Saturday so they’re just a couple holes into their round.

Everything is so tentative at this point. It’s good to know they have adjusted the media schedules so they will at least be on the air and not showing Law & Order reruns during what could be a full day of start-and-stop golf. We might get some footage from old PGA Championships during delays, interviews of forlorn players sitting around a clubhouse, and stressed-out PGA officials trying to figure out what the hell to do to get this thing back on track. Monday looks like a safe bet, and here’s hoping Tuesday does not become a major part of the plan.

Your updated media schedule for what could be an interminable, or quite short, Sunday at Baltusrol.
