Olympic golf 2016 live stream: How to watch Sunday’s final round online

After a couple sluggish rounds, Sunday is set up for a strong finish to the first Olympic golf event in a century.

The many months leading up to the Olympics could be characterized as anything but a success. The entire PGA Tour season was full of public relations blows, mostly from top players dropping out of the field. It was one thing after another as the energy and steam behind the Olympics started to sputter.

NBC Sports will provide online streaming coverage of the final round.

All that bad pub became a backdrop, though, when the games actually started. The players who did show up, stars like Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and Bubba Watson, embraced the experience and dove into it headfirst. it was awesome to see these famous faces in such unfamiliar settings, taking it all in, and their comments all seemed genuine. This was an experience they’d never forget. Martin Kaymer of Germany, a two-time major winner, even went so far as to say this would be a life-changing week for him.

That was all great and wonderful and awesome to see in the days preceding the actual tournament. Then the golf started, and you were worried there just wasn’t enough firepower to put on a compelling event. It’s been uneven at times, to be sure. The first two days had significant lulls and struggled to hold attention.

But business picked up nicely in Saturday’s third round. The weather was beautiful -- the sun was out but the wind was blowing, letting this Gil Hanse-designed course play as it was intended. The crowds were much bigger than expected, swelling around the final groups and lining the ropes. And some big names made some big moves, notably Rickie Fowler and Bubba Watson (until this odd duffed putt). Rose and Stenson stayed at or on top of the leaderboard, and there was a series of hole-outs, incredible shots and ugly shots that keep the third round entertaining.

It pumped some life into the weekend of this event, and now we’re set up with a strong leaderboard for the final 18 holes. Golf Channel will have the coverage of the entire final round again, going live right with the first group at 6 a.m. ET. There will be two different streams running throughout the final round. One is a simulcast of the normal broadcast on Golf Channel, with all the analysts and anchors you’re used to on their typical PGA Tour broadcasts. The second stream is a featured holes stream of sorts that focuses on the 1st and then the exciting closing stretch, Nos. 16 through 18. Those holes present multiple birdie opportunities and the potential for a dramatic finish as they fight for the medal stand.
