Emiliano Grillo says he may miss Olympics golf event after airline loses his clubs

Find Grillo’s clubs!

Emiliano Grillo is one of the top young stars on the PGA Tour. The Argentinian is from that heralded 2011 high school class that has already put up a handful of Tour wins and includes Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, among others. Grillo is a solid pick to medal this week and probably South America’s best hope at winning gold in the men’s event.

UPDATE: Grillo has been reuniting with his clubs! He’ll get two days of prep before his first round tee time.

Grillo has been in good form, contending in the final groups at the PGA Championship, and was quite excited about representing his country this week in Rio.

There’s only one problem -- he may miss his tee time on Thursday morning because he doesn’t have his clubs. Grillo fired off a series of angry tweets at multiple airlines following what sounded like a nightmare travel weekend getting to Rio.

Grillo has finally made it to the Games, where the field is warming up on Monday and most are getting their first practice tour through the Gil Hanse designed Olympic course. His clubs are somewhere on this planet, but not with him.

Grillo is one of the more entertaining personalities on Tour and has leaned into the mess, even putting up a poll asking where in the world his clubs might be located.

There has been one bright spot, one thing Grillo can take solace in during this struggle and it’s something we can all relate to.
