How to watch the FedExCup’s TOUR Championship live online, TV schedule, radio and more

The season comes to a close in Atlanta.

Somehow, the 2016 PGA Tour season is already coming to an end. This was unlike any season we’ve had on the PGA Tour, thanks in large part to an Olympic Games that welcomed golf back after a century-long absence. That created a manic sprint through the summer, from The Players in mid-May to the conclusion of the FedExCup this weekend.

While the PGA Tour schedule will end this weekend, the golf year still has plenty ahead, and the biggest event left will be coming up soon. Next week’s Ryder Cup has, unfortunately, overshadowed a lot of this FedExCup and most minds are already in Minnesota for that biennial match play event. It’s not a great sequence. The FedExCup is a good event. The Ryder Cup is a good event. That they’re crammed into back-to-back weeks is not ideal for a sport that needs to spread things out and grab as much attention as they can get, preferably during non-football times of the calendar. The FedExCup is also always going to lose out to the Ryder Cup, which is maybe the most hyped and anticipated event in the game these days.

The TOUR Championship is the fourth and final leg of these FedExCup Playoffs, and it’s also the smallest, most exclusive field of the year. Only 30 players get the invite to Atlanta, giving the Tour and its network partners the most flexibility of the season. There are just 15 tee times to get off one tee, so they can move those around to try and accommodate the football that swallows up every weekend during the fall. For example, tee times will be pushed up dramatically on Saturday so the third round is done before NBC switches to their usual broadcast of Notre Dame home games.

Golf Channel and NBC, as is now tradition for the last three FedExCup events, will split the duties at East Lake. Golf Channel will take the first two rounds, expanding their normal coverage window to a full five hours. The entire field will be on the course during those two rounds, and expect to see shots from the entire group. On the weekend, NBC will carry the conclusion of the final two rounds with GC taking the early coverage. NBC is also touting that, for their Sunday broadcast, once the final pairing makes the turn, they will go commercial-free in that final round. So that’s a nice way to end the season on the PGA Tour and dole out that outrageous $10 million bonus money for the postseason champ.
