It does, in fact, rain in the desert. Rain has pounded this year’s CareerBuilder Challenge in Palm Springs, where it’s supposed to be sunny all day every day for this event. The former Bob Hope Classic is almost never interrupted by storms or weather, but the players’ rain gear has been put to the test all week in the desert.
How to watch the CareerBuilder Challenge online, TV schedule, and more
It’s supposed to rain in the desert, which means the final-round schedule has been moved up at the CareerBuilder Challenge.

Sunday’s late afternoon forecast calls for more trouble at the CareerBuilder Challenge, so the PGA Tour decided to move tee times up and try to sneak the 72-hole finish in on time. Tee times were pushed up into a two-hour block, with the players going off split tees and in groups of three from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. local in California. This is a common practice on the Tour when weather threatens to disrupt the schedule on the weekend. It’s just not common at the Bob Hope.
The schedule change should yield a finish right around 2:30 p.m. PST — 5:30 p.m. back in the eastern United States. Golf Channel adjusted its schedule on the fly, working around the Web.com Tour event and pushing its broadcast up to run from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET.
The Champions Tour event in Hawaii had its final round canceled because of unplayable wind and weather coming there, so that also freed up the entire schedule for Golf Channel to move things around. It’ll now show a CareerBuilder final round replay in the primetime slot after a recap show of the live finish.
Adam Hadwin currently holds a one-shot lead in Palm Springs after joining the exclusive “59 club” on Saturday. Hadwin posted 13 birdies, matching the all-time single round record on Tour, to become the eighth person in Tour history to break 60. He’s the second to join the club in as many weeks. Justin Thomas posted a 59 Thursday at the Sony Open. Hadwin did it on a par-72 course, however, and became just the fourth player in PGA Tour history to post a 13-under round. Like Thomas, he’ll now try to close it out and also get the win on top of the record-book round.
