Brittany Lincicome, with a newly earned $210,000 burning a hole in her pocket, knew just how to celebrate Sunday’s playoff win over Lexi Thompson in the LPGA Tour’s season-opener.

“I’m going to the casino tonight, hopefully try not to lose all of our money that we won today,” Lincicome said after coming from behind to win her seventh tour title on the first extra frame of the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. “I haven’t been to the casino since Wednesday night, so I’m itching to go play.”

Lincicome was referring to the four hours she spent at the blackjack table the night before firing a then-course-record 9-under 64 in Thursday’s opening round. She and her party planned to play cards for “a few minutes” while waiting for the restaurants to open.

“Next thing I know we were there until 9:30,” Lincicome said on Thursday. “I was like, [John] Daly is my hero apparently. Long hitter, works for him.”

Worked as well for Lincicome, who began the final round two strokes back of 54-hole leaders Thompson and Stacy Lewis. She birdied the 72nd hole for a 68 to get to 26-under and into a sudden-death playoff with Thompson, who finished her final 18 holes with a 70.

A birdie on the first hole of overtime completed the comeback for Lincicome, who came up one shot short of breaking the 72-hole scoring mark in relation to par.

Indeed, it was a week for low scores, with Thompson setting a new course and tournament record with a second-round 61.

Lincicome, with a 65 in her second round, set a new 36-hole tourney scoring record of 129. Sunday’s victory was her first since the 2015 ANA Inspiration.
