It’s not a green jacket, but this Peruvian Alpaca cardigan is now the prize for the winner of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Arnie was known for being one of the best dressed professional athletes ever. He never looked ragged and never took a bad picture.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational winner now gets one of his red Alpaca sweaters
A new prize in the first year at Bay Hill without Arnie: Peruvian Alpaca threads to the winner.
So in the first edition of the API at Bay Hill since Mr. Palmer’s passing, the tournament organizers and his friends decided to put a new prize on the line for the winner. The red cardigan was a piece that Palmer wore often, even during his ceremonial first tee shot to open the Masters in 2013 (shown above).
The purse is larger and winning is more lucrative than ever. A boosted three-year exemption on the PGA Tour also awaits. And there’s a nice trophy and a potential Masters berth if not already qualified. So there’s plenty to play for on Sunday, including a vintage red cardigan from one of the flyest dressers in the history of the game.
