The Par 3 Contest at the Masters was called off Wednesday for the first time in its 57-year history, right after 2003 champion Mike Weir aced the third hole on Augusta National’s lovely shorter course across the street from where the actual contest is slated to begin on Thursday.
Masters Par 3 Contest 2017 results: Rain forces cancellation for 1st time in event’s 57-year history
Mike Weir holed an ace right before the Masters Par 3 Contest was called on account of weather.

Inclement weather had already suspended play at 10 a.m. ET Wednesday but the skies were clear enough for Augusta officials to let players, caddies, and patrons back on to the course for the 12:30 p.m. ET starting time of the annual contest that features cute kids and significant others donning caddie onesies and looping for the players.
Alas, it was not to be, as storms barreling toward Augusta forced play to be halted again and for the rest of the day at 1:25 p.m., with Weir and Brendan Steele sharing the lead at 3-under.
That would normally make both guys absolute locks not to win this year’s Masters since the Par 3 winner has never prevailed in the main event.
Since play was called without a complete round in the books, it’s unclear whether the jinx of winning Wednesday’s nine-hole romp would carry over into the Masters.
