Rickie Fowler makes a hole-in-one on TPC Sawgrass’ famed island hole
Justin Thomas hit it to a foot at the 17th hole but his good pal Rick Fowler did him one better at The Players, acing the famous par-3.

For a short little hole that’s often a stock wedge for the best players in the world, the par-3 17th hole at The Players Championship doesn’t see as many aces as you’d expect.
Will Wilcox aced the par-3 last year but that was the first hole-in-one in regulation since Miguel Angel Jimenez’s ace at the 17th in 2002.
This year, Rickie Fowler is already on the board, putting one in the cup on Wednesday during a final practice loop with Justin Thomas, Jason Dufner, and Jimmy Walker. It won’t count on the scorecard, but still a good image to have going into four days at a hole that can psyche out the top pros in the world.
Thomas put it close, too, but couldn’t match his Jupiter friend’s work. Like the good millennials they are, JT and Rick made sure to document it all for their various social media channels.
