Don’t expect all day rains but scattered areas of showers and thunderstorms during the 99th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club near Charlotte North Carolina. Muggy air will be in place over the Carolinas for the end of the week and into the weekend. This moisture along with a stalled boundary will be the mechanism to spark showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. While these won’t be all day rain makers, these storms could cause play stoppage due to lightning.
PGA Championship 2017 weather forecast: Times of showers and thunderstorms
Occasional t’storms could delay play during the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club.

FRIDAY — Round 2 of PGA Championship:
It will range from partly sunny to mostly cloudy at times for Friday afternoon at the PGA Championship. As temperatures heat up during the day so will the shower and thunderstorm activity. Sky and radar will need to be monitored as storms form. It will be muggy and warm as afternoon temperatures reach the mid to upper 80s. Winds will be out of the south between 5 to 10 mph, but expect gustier winds if storms approach or pass the golf course during the day.
SATURDAY — Rounds 3 of PGA Championship:
Saturday will feature more of the same: muggy and warm with scattered areas of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will be as warm as Friday, near the middle to upper 80s. Toward the afternoon, we will see more areas of showers and thunderstorms forming. Again these storms could cause delays in play due to lightning. Average wind speed will be between 5 and 10 mph out of the south. Gusty winds can be expected near thunderstorms. The sky will range from partly to mostly cloudy.
SUNDAY — Rounds 4 of PGA Championship:
The final round of the PGA Championship will have very little change in the weather forecast. It will remain partly to mostly cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms are still expected to be scattered across the area, especially in the afternoon. Winds will be different than previous days, as they will be out of the ENE but still between 5 to 10 mph except around thunderstorms where gusty winds could be stronger.
