Michelle Wie hopes to bounce back from an emergency appendectomy in time for the season’s final major in little more than two weeks. But the reality is that the popular LPGA Tour star won’t be making the overseas trip for the Evian Championship, which starts on Sept. 14.

The chances are “less than 50-50” that the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open champ will play the Evian, according to Golf Channel’s Tim Rosaforte, who spoke with Wie’s swing coach, David Leadbetter. “Two weeks is cutting it real close; she needs three to four weeks to recover.”
That’s a tough break for Wie, who has battled illnesses and injuries throughout her career and just can’t seem to catch a break, healthwise. A bit of surgery was not enough to douse the upbeat golfer’s enthusiasm, as she posted a positive message on her Instagram account on Monday, thanking her medical staff and proclaiming her intent to be back on the tee “as soon as the doctors clear me to play!!”
Wie, who withdrew ahead of Sunday’s final round of last week’s CP Women’s Open and underwent surgery on Sunday, posted a video on Twitter of a glassy-eyed patient nibbling contentedly on a glazed donut:
