Jordan Spieth was the target of a mock political attack ad before PGA Tour election

Until Monday morning, most golf fans were likely blissfully unaware — and probably could not have cared less — that Jordan Spieth was in the running to become chair of the PGA Tour’s Player Advisory Council.

That is until Spieth’s primary opponent, Billy Hurley III, released this attack ad on the former world No. 1, jokingly and brilliantly charging the “golden child” with being — among other things — a thief and a demanding dictator.

Hurley’s video is chock full of outstanding sound bites and moments, like when he mocks his own military service and compares his driving a destroyer with Spieth kayaking.

But don’t take our word for it; watch and listen to the “golden man for the common man” making an 11th-hour case for his heroic self and against his “disgusting” and “pathetic” adversary:

The object of Hurley’s feigned hostility even got in on the act, when Spieth threw his support to his opponent:

For the wonks among us, both candidates sit on the 16-member PAC and the winner will also take over Davis Love III’s position as player director on the policy board starting next year. Voting ends on Tuesday.
