Masters Par 3 contest results: 68-year-old Tom Watson wins annual event

Wednesday was a fun day at Augusta.

The annual Par 3 contest ahead of the 2018 Masters tournament from Augusta National on Wednesday afternoon was a usual joyous, and fun occasion to watch. The winner was retired PGA golfer Tom Watson, who finished with a 6-under, with a final score of 21.

But Watson wasn’t the only bright spot during the contest — one of the most incredible moments came when legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus’ grandson, Gary, hit a hole-in-one while his grandfather watched with tears in his eyes. It was an incredible sight to see, to say the least.

For Watson, he becomes the only golfer since 2005 to win the contest and not play in the tournament the next day — the last was Jerry Pate in 2005. With all of the buildup surrounding this year’s Masters, much thanks to Tiger Woods’ first trip to Augusta in three years, this year’s Par 3 contest was so much more fun and exciting to watch.
