How to follow Tiger Woods’ round as much as possible at the Masters on Thursday

Here’s how to follow the Masters’ main attraction if you’re not in the galleries at Augusta National.

Tiger Woods is playing the Masters for the first time in three years starting with the opening round Thursday.

This is exciting. Woods hasn’t played this flagship event for the sport since 2015, but he’s playing well enough right now to be a co-favorite (with three others) atop odds lists to win.

Woods appears to be healthier now than he’s been in years, having spent long stretches dealing with injuries to his back, knee, and who knows what else. So far on this year’s tour, he’s notched top-five finishes in both of his last two starts, at the Valspar Championship and then the Arnold Palmer Invitational. After ending 2017 as the world’s 656th-ranked player, Woods has shot up to No. 105 to start the Masters. That’s not classic Woods’ territory, but it’s a monstrous improvement from the depths of despair he’d been inhabiting.

That Woods should be in the hunt makes this one of the most anticipated golf tournaments in years. (Even the Valspar, which normally isn’t a big deal at all, got huge ratings because Woods was in the hunt on the weekend.) Mix the stakes and pageantry of the Masters with the possibility that Woods creates magic on golf’s biggest stage, and you’ve got an incredible event that should be a great advertisement for the sport.
