The usual thinning out of the sports calendar has occurred with the arrival of June. The NHL and NBA playoffs have been whittled down to the finals with multiple days in between games. There’s some baseball here and there, WNBA, some horse races, and different odds and ends with the NCAA spring championship season.

Saturday could be another big opportunity for the PGA Tour, which is riding its horse again — the greatest moneymaker in the history of the game, Tiger Woods. He’s the top draw once again and this time he’s boosted the Tour’s OTT streaming service. Tiger has made so many people so much money over the years and his return to the game in 2018 is the latest boon for the entire pro golf industry.

Woods will play the weekend at the Memorial Tournament, making the cut after an uninspiring and wild start on Thursday morning. Tiger followed his opening 39 with consecutive 33s to charge back up the leaderboard but it could have been so much better. Woods’ putter really let him down on Friday afternoon in a staggering way. He made nothing, even from the shortest distances, and had to settle for extremely disappointing pars and a couple bogeys. He said his round of 67 should have been something like a 62 or 63 and he wasn’t exaggerating. The strokes-gained numbers backed it up and showed just how much the putting really wrecked what could have been a super low number.

Tiger is back on Saturday playing alongside reigning Masters winner Patrick Reed. The two go at 11:20 a.m. ET and are just inside the top 25 after 81 players made the cut at Jack Nicklaus’ little party. Golf Channel will be on the air early this weekend given that this is a PGA Tour event with enhanced statues. The TV coverage starts at 12:30 p.m. ET so Tiger should be just three or four holes into his round by then. PGA Tour Live, that subscription service that has no doubt reaped the rewards of this Tiger comeback, will have him on the featured groups stream and showing his every shot from the first tee ball.
