Memorial Tournament 2018: Time, TV schedule for Tiger Woods and the field on Saturday

Tiger Woods is back playing the weekend at the Memorial for the first time since 2015 and here’s hoping it goes much better than the last time he was in this spot. There are many options for on-course rock bottom moments over the past five years with Tiger, and that 2015 Saturday morning round is certainly a contender.

After scuffling to make the cut on the number with an up-and-down par on Friday night, Tiger came back out to Muirfield Village Saturday morning and posted an outrageous 85. It was ugly throughout and the highest round of his career to date. The chipping troubles returned. He couldn’t find a fairway. And he couldn’t make a putt. It was depressing and alarming and the start of a miserable summer, the last one he’d play before two years of back surgeries and rehab.

Woods enters this Saturday round at Memorial in much better form and relative good health, as far as we know. He mentioned stiffness in his back on Thursday but said that is just the new normal and he’s recovered from an opening 39 at the start on Thursday to get into the top 25 at the midpoint. Woods’ putting has let him down this week in almost incomprehensibly bad ways. He’s made nothing and failed to capitalize on what has been an excellent couple days of ballstriking. So if he could just find a little form with that putter, as he did for stretches on the weekend at The Players, we’d likely be looking at a run into the top 10.

Tiger will tee off at 11:20 a.m. ET alongside Masters winner Patrick Reed. That tee time is just an hour before Golf Channel goes live with their early-round coverage, but as you might expect, Woods will fall on PGA Tour Live’s featured groups stream from the very first tee ball. That OTT service didn’t even exist the last time Tiger was playing the weekend at Memorial, but it’s where you can find his first three or four holes before Golf Channel and CBS take over with the TV coverage for the rest of the day.
