What a way to go out, Tiger Woods. On Sunday at Bellervie at the 2018 PGA Championship, Woods hit a 64 and finished at 14-under. Although he was close to the top of the leaderboard all day, he was unable to catch up to Brooks Koepka, who won it at 16-under.

On Woods’ final hole, he sank a birdie putt which at least kept him in contention of making a potential playoff. The scene after Woods made it was something else:
“These fans were so positive all week, I can’t thank them enough for what they were saying out there, what it meant to me as a player,” Woods told Amanda Balionis on CBS after his final round.
“I was in contention the last two major championships,” said Woods, who didn’t play in a major in 2016 and 2017 while recovering from back surgeries. “I never would have foreseen that a a year ago.”
That Woods shot a 64 was remarkable considering he didn’t hit a fairway until the 10th hole.
“I had a hard time with my warm up. I was hitting it left, I was hitting it right. I just had to pick a side. I could miss it way right, or miss it way left,” Woods said. “It was struggle, until I found a little something on the back nine. I was hanging in there with my mind, basically, and it kind of got me through it.”
Woods finished tied for sixth at The British Open in July, and on Sunday he wrapped up second place with a birdie putt on 18 that produced a familiar, deafening roar from the crowd.
The second-place finish was the best for Woods since coming in second at the PGA Championship in 2009.
