Georgia Bulldogs head football coach Kirby Smart led his team to back-to-back national titles. He was rooting for fellow Dawgs Brian Harman and Sepp Straka at the 151st Open Championship.

His good luck tweet paid off as Harman won The Open by six shots.

After Harman’s round on Saturday, Smart tweeted him and Straka to show them some love.

“Good luck tomorrow to @harmanbrian and @seppstraka! We need to get the Claret Jug between the hedges this fall,” Smart said.

Harman won by six shots, and Straka finished T2. The Bulldog duo made history by becoming the first pair of players to finish first and second from the same school at the Open.

Smart graduated from Georgia in the 90s and took over the head coaching job in 2016. The head coach is also an avid golfer who loves hitting the course as often as he can.

Since getting to Athens, Smart has led the Bulldogs to back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. Now he is sending that good juju to England.

That good juju was just the right amount of momentum Harman needed to close out the win. After Harman won the event, Smart made sure to send him a congratulatory tweet and a special invite.

Harman pulled it off, and now Athens can go crazy seeing the Claret Jug this fall. Golf is a staple in the Peach State, and so many Georgia fans love following the PGA Tour “Dawgs.”

The 36-year-old finished the drill and became the first Georgia Bulldog to win an Open Championship.

Athens is known as the Classic City, but with Harman winning in dominating fashion at the Open, it gave Georgia yet another championship. So it’s time to go from Classic to Championship City.
