LIV Golf: Bryson DeChambeau loses his socks, literally, amid lost putting bet
DeChambeau and an Australian LIV Golf fan became well acquainted after the major winner coughed up his socks.
During this weekend’s LIV Adelaide event, he and a patron made a bet, putting his socks on the line, literally.
It was unclear how the bet came about, but the video opens with the Crusher GC captain lined up for a lengthy putt. Fans were chanting in the background, and their distraction appeared to have worked.
DeChambeau watched as the ball slid right past the hole.
The former U.S. Open champion lost the bet and had to physically remove his socks and hand them over.
“And there goes my socks. Enjoy them. I guess,” the video caption read.
DeChambeau documented it all on his Instagram story. After he realized his fate, the 30-year-old gave a fake smile to the camera and began taking his shoes off.
Yes, he even did the sniff test as he handed them over.
There was no backing out or any excuses — nope, DeChambeau held up his end of the deal.
It was just another element as to how crazy this weekend was at LIV Adelaide.
Players seemed to enjoy the atmosphere as multiple “shoeys” were done throughout the week, especially after Cam Smith’s All-Australian team won in the first-ever team playoff.
Fans were seen stalking the grounds in amazingly close proximity to golfers, sometimes giving them a hug. Unfortunately, a fan even chucked a water bottle Friday, hitting a caddie in the head sending him to the ground.
It was a wild and record-breaking weekend for the Saudi-backed league, which showed the world why Australia needs more professional golf events, regardless of affiliation.
