The United States Golf Association (USGA) strives to give the world’s best players the toughest test each year at the U.S. Open.
U.S. Open future sites; see where the USGA is headed over the next 25 years
The USGA has decided to plan out its next 25 years for the U.S. Open, and each site will test the world’s best to the max.

Look no further than Pinehurst No. 2, which will challenge the top professionals and amateurs for a fourth time this year. The 124th U.S. Open also marks the first instance in which the USGA will hold its national open at one of its ‘anchor sites,’ which are top courses around the country designated to host multiple U.S. Opens every few years. No doubt that the Open Championship rota inspired this.
Thus, Pinehurst No. 2, along with Oakmont Country Club and Pebble Beach, are the three anchor sites currently employed by the USGA. All of them will stage four U.S. Opens between this year and 2050.
Looking past Pinehurst and the 124th U.S. Open, the USGA is ensuring they keep the anchor sites in rotation. They are also reaffirming the championship’s difficulty with its impressive list of courses going forward.
Only four years from 2025 to 2051 do not have a location for the U.S. Open—those years are 2043, 2045, 2046, and 2048.
The rest have venues on the schedule. Also, remember that these are just the venues for the men’s U.S. Opens.
