SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Tiger Woods announced on Friday that he will play in next week’s Genesis Invitational. The tournament, which Woods hosts annually, moved from Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles to Torrey Pines in San Diego due to the wildfires.

Jack Milko has been playing golf since he was five years old. He has yet to record a hole-in-one, but he did secure an M.A. in Sports Journalism from St. Bonaventure University.
Woods has had plenty of success on the South Course at Torrey Pines, including a memorable win over Rocco Mediate at the 2008 U.S. Open. He also has conquered the South Course numerous other times, winning the Farmers Insurance Open on seven occasions. He most recently did so in 2013, the last time he won the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year Award.
Woods last played a PGA Tour event at Torrey Pines in 2020, tying for ninth that week and finishing six strokes behind Marc Leishman. That result came roughly one year before a tragic car accident in Southern California nearly took his life.
Since then, Woods has played sporadically, failing to contend at the 11 tournaments he has played in. His best result over the past four years came at the 2023 Genesis Invitational, held at Riviera, where he tied for 45th.
Woods also had back surgery in September and has not made an official PGA Tour start since then. He played at the PNC Championship with his son Charlie in December, losing to Bernhard Langer in a playoff, and has made a pair of starts in TGL, the new indoor golf league that he and Rory McIlroy helped found.
