Let’s talk a little bit about this. When I was in college, we got a keg for Super Bowl XXXII. The game was good, everything was fine, and fun was had by all. When I woke up on Monday morning to go to school, about 9:00 a.m., my roommate was sitting in a lawn chair, having a couple of beers before work.
“Why are you having a beer at 9:00?,” I asked.
“Because I can,” he responded.
He eventually dropped out. Turns out he had something of a “drinking problem.” I feel like that 9:00 a.m. Monday drinking session was probably where I should have mentioned something, even if only in a jocular way.
This is a metaphor for gambling on the Home Run Derby. Those odds are the drinking at 9:00 a.m. on a Monday of baseball gambling. If you put money on the Home Run Derby, you will wake up under a bridge one day. The goal is to just be there for the night instead of getting your mail delivered there, but it’s kind of out of your hands. Don’t gamble on the Home Run Derby.
...
But I guess if I put a $20 on Cespedes, it’ll make the whole thing more watchable. Sold! And I’ll let the chips fall where they may. Literally!!!!
