Manny Ramirez’s first hit

I know a lot of baseball stuff. Ask me a question about Steve Ontiveros, and I’ll ask, “Which one?” because I’m cagey like that. But here’s something I didn’t know: Manny Ramirez thought his first major-league hit was a homer. It wasn’t.

He just kept running. Of course he did.

The intersection of perfection and truth is hard to find. It’s easy to get lost, even if you think you have a map. But, here, friends. Here it is. I did not know this until today. I am a better baseball fan -- and a more entertained baseball fan -- for knowing this now.
