Indy 500 disqualifications for Caio Collet and Jack Harvey, explained
Two drivers are headed to the back of the field for the Indianapolis 500 following post-qualifying disqualifications

But two drivers are now headed to the back of the field after their cars failed post-qualifying inspections.
Caio Collet, who qualified 10th, and Jack Harvey, who qualified 29th, received the news late Sunday night. According to a statement from IndyCar:
During post-qualifying inspection of car Nos. 4 and 24, INDYCAR Officiating discovered modifications to the Dallara-supplied Energy Management System (EMS) covers and cover-to-A-arm mounting points with unapproved hardware. According to the INDYCAR rulebook, EMS covers must be used as supplied.
IndyCar noted the specific rule sections that the two teams violated in the statement:
- Rule 14.12.1.1. EMS must be used as supplied by Dallara and approved by INDYCAR.
- Rule 14.12.1.6. EMS covers may only be attached with the supplied hardware and Helicopter Tape.
As a result of those technical breaches, both qualifying results were disallowed, and the cars were dropped to the rear of the field in order of entrant points.
Collet drives the No. 4 car for A.J. Foyt Enterprises while Harvey drives the No. 24 car for Dreyer and Reinbold Racing.
Collet advanced to the Top 12 portion of the qualifying session, but will have the three points he secured for advancing to that portion of qualifying taken away from his season standings. Scott Dixon and Rinus VeeKay will now receive 10th and 11th-place Indy 500 qualifying standings points.
As a result of these disqualifications, Collet will now line up 32nd for the Indianapolis 500, while Harvey will line up 33rd.
