After being unceremoniously deposed in October as the CEO for the Izod IndyCar Series, it seemed only a matter of time before Randy Bernard found his next venture.
Former IndyCar head Randy Bernard named CEO of cable channel RFD-TV

That time is now, as Bernard was named CEO of RFD-TV on Friday. RFD-TV is a cable channel that focuses on rural America with programming centered on agriculture, horses, country music and entertainment and what the station refers to as the “rural lifestyle.”
“This is huge,” Rural Media Group founder Patrick Gottsch said in a statement on the company’s website. “Randy is absolutely the right person, at the right time, to lead our new management team and take this venture to a whole new level, and beyond.”
Considering Bernard’s background as the longtime CEO of the Professional Bull Riders, this seems like a logical move for a man who, during his tenure with IndyCar, had his authority continually undermined and his job status frequently called into question due to his lack of acumen relating to motorsports.
“The rural lifestyle has always been an important part of my culture and I am excited for the opportunity Patrick has given me with RFD-TV and RURAL TV,” Bernard said in a statement. “The solid foundation, profitable operations, and talented management team in place at RMG is very attractive to me.”
RFD-TV is distributed in 61 homes million worldwide.
