IndyCar Media Day 2013: Scott Dixon has no problems with Graham Rahal, believes Brownsburg team has equal resources

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

LEEDS, Ala. - Scott Dixon expects to have a better relationship with Charlie Kimball this year now that Chip Ganassi’s second Indy Car team is down to just a single-car effort following the departure of Graham Rahal to Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Not that he believes his relationship with Rahal and Kimball was strained in any way to begin with but Rahal insinuated last season that the resources offered to the Target cars were not equal to what he and Kimball were receiving out of the Brownsburg shop.

Dixon agrees that the two teams are separate from each other but insisted that Kimball and Rahal’s pace was down last year only because of how late their program came together compared to the well-established Target operation.
“It’s always been two teams, certainly,” Dixon said during a media day press event at Barber Motorsports Park on Monday. “But they have the same resources as we do. Their season started a little behind ours and that probably contributed to their development issues. Nothing has really changed this year and I expect everything to be an open book.”
Rahal’s departure from Ganassi was said to have not to have been on the best of terms but Dixon said he never had a personal or professional problem with Rahal.
“I don’t know,” Dixon said. “Of course, from my perspective, we didn’t spend a lot of time together. But yeah, he left on good terms as far as I’m concerned.”
Dixon expects to spend more time with Kimball this year but that’s only to strengthen that team’s one-car efforts. Dixon returns to the Target Chip Ganassi race team in 2013 where he is again partnered with Dario Franchtti.
