Dynasty of ducks halt IndyCar practice at Belle Isle (Video)
IndyCar’s Friday practice session for the Grand Prix of Detroit received a red flag for an invading family of ducks.

Friday’s practice session for the IndyCar Series Dual in Detroit was interrupted by ... ducks. A family of six to be exact -- a mother and five ducklings wandered onto the racing surface and brought out a red flag about halfway into the first practice session of the morning.
This initiated a comical chase around the temporary 14-turn street course to corral the family of birds and take them to safety. Track officials were eventually able to corner the ducks near the turn 11 straightaway and lead them to the safety of a nearby pond.
A clip of the ducks can be seen at the 15-second mark in the video below. No ducks were harmed during Friday’s practice session.
The IndyCar Series will race Saturday and Sunday in the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit.
