Ryan Briscoe returns to Panther Racing for Milwaukee IndyFest

The Australian will make his third start for Panther Racing this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile.

As expected, the revolving door at Panther Racing is mostly going to revolve around Ryan Briscoe when his schedule permits, as the team continues to try out drivers for 2014 after parting ways with JR Hildebrand following the Indianapolis 500.

Briscoe first joined the team for the two races on the Streets of Belle Isle and posted finishes of 21st and 13th respectively, earning praise from team owner John Barnes. The diver will return to the seat this weekend at the legendary Milwaukee Mile, the site of Briscoe’s first IndyCar Series win in 2008 with Team Penske.

The Australian will continue to focus primarily on his American Le Mans Series commitments this season with Level 5 Racing but is considered a possibility to drive for the team full-time in 2014. For his part, Briscoe has enjoyed his time with Panther this season and is looking forward to continuing the momentum established in the doubleheader.

“I felt like the team gelled really well when we worked together in Detroit and I’m sure we’ll be able to pick right up where we left off this weekend in Milwaukee,” Briscoe said in a news release. “It’s obviously a very challenging racetrack and you need to get things right but Panther’s always had a great oval package and I’m excited to jump back into the National Guard Chevy and get back at it this weekend.”

In the same release, Barnes confirmed that the team is hoping to finalize more IndyCar dates with Briscoe this season.

“We’re working on getting him signed for several other races this season, so hopefully we’ll have that finalized in the short term future,” Barnes said.

Oriol Servia drove the National Guard Chevrolet last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway and finished 19th. He is expected back in the car for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway on June 23.
