Indianapolis 500 winning driver Tony Kanaan will lead an invasion of IndyCar Series talent into next week’s Grand-Am Rolex Series Brickyard Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Tony Kanaan leads IndyCar invasion of Grand-Am next week at Indianapolis
Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan, AJ Allmendinger and Sebastien Bourdais will lead the the IndyCar contingent at next week’s Grand-Am race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

For the race, Kanaan will team-up with Chip Ganassi Racing in their sparingly-used No. 02 Riley BMW Daytona Prototype alongside Joey Hand, with sponsorship from NTT DATA.
Neither Kanaaan nor Hand are strangers to the Rolex Seres as both have previously competed in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Kanaan raced in this year’s event in a GT class Porsche, while Hand won the Rolex 24 overall with Ganassi in 2011.
Hand is currently serving as a factory BMW driver in the American Le Mans Series with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s BMW Z4 program.

Kanaan joins AJ Allmendinger and Sebastien Bourdais in the vast field of road racing experts as Bourdais has also signed on for the rest of the season to co-pilot 8Star Motorsport’s No. 4 Daytona Prototype alongside Emilio Di Guida.
Allmendinger will drive for Michael Shank in his No. 4 Prototype in the race.
In related news, Justin Wilson has signed on with Shank for the remainder of the Grand-Am season after Indianapolis, agreeing to partner with Yacaman at Kansas, Lime Rock, Road America and Laguna Seca.
Bourdais and Wilson were able to sign-up for the rest of the season because there were no more conflicts on the schedule between Grand-Am and IndyCar.
For Kanaan, competing in the Brickyard is a chance to double-up on his success at the Speedway after winning his first Borg-Warner trophy in May. With Ganassi Racing, his chances are pretty good.
