Tony Kanaan says he’s often confused for Vin Diesel

The IndyCar veteran answered several off-beat questions in a slapstick interview with People.

USA TODAY Sports

Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan recently appeared on an episode of People.com’s Chatter video segment where celebrities are pitted against the clock in trigger-finger response style interviews to generate the most candid responses possible.

The gimmick is to ask the guest five questions in 60 seconds ending with one shameless plug. The plug in this scenario was the new IndyCar based DreamWorks cartoon, “Turbo” which inspired one of Kanaan paint schemes in races where he is sponsored by Sunoco.

The Q&A can be found below but we urge you to watch the video here as Kanaan’s slapstick delivery made for quite the entertaining interview.

People Chatter: When you’re out for a Sunday drive, what is the top speed you go?

Tony Kanaan: The speed limit -- because otherwise, my wife would definitely be mad at me!

Ppl: What’s the worst way someone has massacred your name?

TK: Vin Diesel (Editor’s note: What? Maybe he thought they meant ‘mistaken identity?)

Ppl: Besides racing, what else gives you an adrenaline rush?

TK: WHen my wife calls me and tells me that we need to speak when I get home.

Ppl: What was the first car you ever owned?

TK: My first car was a Fiat Panda -- which doesn’t even exist in America.

Ppl: If your kid wants to be a race car driver, what advice would you give them?

TK: Never give up. If it’s your dream, it’s possible.
