Scott Dixon leads opening practice at Mid-Ohio

Scott Dixon picked up where he left off last season at Mid-Ohio as the defending race winner led opening practice on Friday.

Scott Dixon led first practice on Friday for the Honda 200 IndyCar Series race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with a fast lap of 1:05.7069.

Dixon enters the event as the pre-race favorite having won the previous two events at the course and coming off three-consecutive wins at Pocono and the 2 in Toronto two weeks ago.

Dario Franchitti clocked in at second just over Ryan Hunter-Reay, Simon Pagenaud and James Hinchcliffe.

Two drivers made their official IndyCar weekend debut on Friday with Luca Filippi and James Davison appearing for 19th and 21st respectively for Barracuda Racing Dale Coyne Racing. Second practice begins at 3:30 p.m. ET.
