Indy 500 schedule 2014

A look at the schedule leading to Sunday’s 98th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Jonathan Ferrey

After a week’s preparation focusing almost exclusively on qualifying for the Indianapolis 500, attention now turns to the May 25 race itself.

As opposed to the week prior where the speedway was open every day for practice, drivers will have just two sessions of track time to prepare for Sunday’s race. The first of these rounds is scheduled for Monday, which should see drivers on the track for longer stints and in traffic as they get acclimated to the conditions they will face Sunday.

The final day of practice is Friday and is the Indianapolis 500 tradition known as “Carb Day,” where drivers shakedown their cars one final time. Friday will also feature the annual pit stop competition where crews go head-to-head in an elimination-style bracket.

It all leads to the 98th edition of the Indianapolis 500, “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
