Barcelona vs. Real Madrid, 2013 El Clasico: Ronaldo earns a penalty, puts Madrid in front 1-0

Update: Real Madrid 3-1 Barcelona, full time.

Real Madrid have a lead in El Clasico, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the 1st minute Gerard Piqué found Andres Iniesta with a long, cross field pass. Iniesta brought it down and moved in towards the Madid goal before sending a rocketed shot wide of the goal. A minute later Barca were back, this time a long ball down the right to Pedro who found Lionel Messi in the box at the near post. Messi tried to spin around Fábio Coentrão but the defender held his position well and while Messi's shot got by, it was slightly off target, rolling past the far post.

Madrid settled down after the quick start from Barca but opening minutes were definitely a better looking Blaugrana side compared to the last couple games. Both sides defended well through the opening minutes as well, with excellent plays from Jordi Alba and Dani Alves to shut down Madrid attacks.

Ronaldo shot past Carles Puyol in the 13th minute and forced Piqué to sweep his feet in the box, earning Madrid a penalty. Ronaldo took the PK himself and blasted a shot past Pinto to give Los Blancos a 1-0 lead, 2-1 on aggregate. More importantly, it negated Barca's away goal advantage from their first leg.
