Usain Bolt was involved in a minor car accident early Sunday morning in his home county of Jamaica, crashing his BMW into a guardrail. Bolt, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, was uninjured, according to his publicist.

The incident occurred at 5:15 a.m. in Jamaica’s capital of Kingston, just three days after his 100-meter victory at the Diamond league meet in Oslo, Norway. Bolt was on his way home from a party when the “fender bender” happened in the busy Half-Way Tree neighborhood. His publicist told the AP in Jamaica that “there were no injuries at all” and that Bolt was “fine and resting at home.”

Police are still investigating the accident, with hopes of determining just how Bolt lost control of his BMW.

Fellow countryman Asafa Powell, who finished second behind Bolt in last week’s 100, was traveling with Bolt in another car and tweeted, “My friend and countryman @usainbolt is ok after a fender bender.”

This is not Bolt’s first car accident. In 2009, he crashed another BMW, flipping it into a ditch along a highway. He suffered minor injuries to his feet then, resulting in some setbacks to his training. At the time he said, “After something like that you look at life through and over, and look at what has gone wrong -- where you should improve or should be careful.”

Both Bolt and Powell are expected to compete for the gold medal in the 100 at the 2012 London Olympics in August.
