Thursday is day one of the artistic gymnastics segment of the U.S. Olympic Trials at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., and the competition kicks off with the men. The event is spread over two days, with each competitor needing to participate in each event -- that’s floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and the high bar. Their hope is to qualify for the Olympic squad, which will send the five best gymnasts to London. There are 15 hopefuls, each of which will take the stage Thursday and Saturday.

The competition will be broadcast from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Eastern on NBC Sports Network. For those of you wondering, the women’s competition kicks off Friday at 9 p.m.
