China has claimed another gold medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics with Guo Wenjun’s win in Women’s 10m Air Pistol. Guo finished with a score of 488.1 to defend her Olympic title from Beijing.
Women’s 10m Air Pistol Results: Guo Wenjun Wins Another Shooting Gold For China
France’s Celine Goberville won the silver medal after edging Olena Kostevych (Ukraine) in a shootoff after both finished with a total of 486.6.
The final was a back-and-forth, dramatic affair -- Guo was trailing by 0.5 heading into the 10th and decisive round, but then scored a near perfect shot (10.8 out of a possible 10.9) to pass Goberville for the gold. Goberville shot a 10.6 in the shootoff to defeat Kostevych’s 9.7 for the silver.
It’s China’s second gold in shooting after Yi Siling’s win on Saturday in the 10m Air Rifle competition.
