Nigeria Vs. Argentina, Olympics Basketball 2012: Argentina Wins, Nigeria Eliminated

The Argentina men’s basketball team won their third game of Olympic play Saturday and in doing so eliminated Nigeria from advancing to the semifinal round. Argentina won 93-79 to pull into a tie for second in Group A.

Argentina is now tied with France for second in Group A with seven points. Nigeria fell to 0-4 and even if they win their fifth and final game of group play, they will not have enough points to advance to the semifinal round.

Luis Scola led the way for Argentina with 22 points. He was one of four Argentina players in double figures. Carlos Delfino scored 18, Andres Nocioni scored 17 and Manu Ginobili scored 13 to pace Argentina.

Ike Diogu continued to play well in the Olympics, leading Nigeria with 16 points. Diogu scored 27 points in Nigeria’s last game against the United States.

Nigeria will play its final Olympic game Monday against France while Argentina will face off against the United States.
