The surgery -- “patellar tendon ACL reconstruction” -- was performed by Dr. Walt Lowe, the head team physician for both the Houston Texans and Rockets. The patient was described as “a 19-year-old female athlete” -- she’s a runner who injured her knee playing intramural football.
The hospital went full #STRAT with this one, uploading 42 videos to YouTube, dozens of tweets, and even Vines (all of which was nicely organized in a Storify). And thanks to social media surgery (SMS?), we now know what an ACL surgery looks like ... in six seconds.
