93.8 percent of the advertising you see during a basketball game is for basketball shoes, but despite that, nobody has ever developed a technology that ensures basketball players’ shoes will stay on 100 percent of the time. Sure, they stay on the vast majority of the time, but a few times a year, you see a dude’s foot come loose in the middle of play.
Nik Stauskas throws shoe into the Cameron Crazies during Michigan-Duke
Obligatory: “Who throws a shoe, honestly?”
It happened to Mike Miller during the finals, and he just kept trucking and drilled a three. It happened to Mike Bibby, and, well, Dwyane Wade threw his shoe into the crowd.
When Nik Stauskas’ shoe came off during Michigan-Duke Tuesday night, he was lucky enough to recover it ... but he didn’t exactly deal with it in the wisest way:
Because Nik Stauskas is a polite young Canadian he disposed of the shoe in an orderly manner so that nobody would trip on it. But the smart place to throw it was not DIRECTLY INTO THE CAMERON CRAZIES.
