Here is the tweet that cost Pembroke Academy’s Pat Welch his New Hampshire Division II Player of the Year honor.
New Hampshire HS basketball Player of the Year loses award over obscene hashtag
#Whoops

Welch sent the tweet right after his team won the NHIAA Division II boys’ basketball state title. He said he deleted it 10 minutes later. That was too late in The Age Of Social Media In Which We Live Now™.
“I want people to know that I’m really sorry about what I said,” Welch told The Concord Monitor. “This is a learning experience. It’s something that will never happen again. For kids who look up to me, think about your words before you put them out there.”
Pembroke Academy head coach Matt Alosa think this is kinda dumb, which it kinda is.
“They basically took away Pat’s body of work this season because of a tweet that ended up online for 15 minutes,” he told the Union Leader. “I don’t like and don’t condone what was written in that tweet. There’s no program I respect more than Portsmouth High.”
Let this be a lesson: Never tweet anything!
