Hi! I’m a fan of the New York Yankees. Don’t judge me; I was born this way. To be a Yankees fan, you have to acknowledge that the team you root for is inherently unlikable and that they are perpetually successful because of their ability and subsequent willingness to outspend the opposition. Because baseball teams make tons of money and baseball players like tons of money, you get good ones by giving them tons of money.

Or maybe Yankees fans are just getting used to their role as not-the-highest-paid team in baseball for the first time in 16 years?
