This is the best high school baseball catch you’ll see all year

Drama, excitement, a flip over a fence! Be still our beating hearts.

A good catch has a few simple elements, all masterfully executed. This clip from Absegami High School has all the trappings of a classic.

  1. The catch itself. Yes, it goes without saying that the ball needs to be caught. In order for a catch to be great you need a little flair and panache. Check.
  2. Good use of props. A diving open field catch is all well and good, when you up the stakes with a fence or wall, things suddenly get better. Check.
  3. Potential chance of injury. There’s a key difference between an injury and a POTENTIAL injury. No we’re not advocating high school students get hurt, but the possibility of it creates drama. Check.
