IndyCars are marvels of technology: sleek, aerodynamic beauties with enormous, hulking engines that can speed over 200 miles per hour. They’re magnificent triumphs, a true wonder of human technology.
When IndyCar meets puddle, puddle wins
The tiniest force of nature beats one of the grandest efforts of human technology.

They do have one bitter rival though: the puddle.
That’s Ryan Hunter-Reay during qualifying for the Indianapolis Grand Prix. As the YouTube poster notes, he wasn’t alone:
A rain storm had moved through prior to session. Cars were getting sideways due to a puddle in Turn 14. I witnessed Sebastian Saavedra and Jack Hawksworth get very crossed up here. Decided to pull out the camera to capture someone get sideways. The very next car through was Ryan Hunter-Reay which not only got sideways but couldn’t save the massive slide.
