Bill Simmons’ quest to take over Rick Reilly’s vapid mantle is in full effect and coworker Sage Steele is having none of it.
On Thursday night Simmons was a little peeved at needing to wait for his turn on the swing, loudly exclaiming “Do I get to speak now? It’s been like 10 minutes.” His request was met with a state of quietude, which Steele broke when she turned to the camera in apparent disbelief and gave a simple shake of the head.
Having a quiet moment with the viewer is a total “House of Cards” move, and a strong one. If you’ve seen the show you’ll understand. We’re all for more fourth-wall breaking sportscasting -- especially when it means dissension in the ranks of Bristol.
