One of the common tropes in the dispute about whether college athletes should be paid is that despite helping schools earn millions of dollars, they sometimes can’t pay for food. Shabazz Napier talked about “hungry nights,” Ole Miss QB Bo Wallace just said players “go to bed hungry” at SEC Media Days.
UNC wide receiver tweets picture of bare cupboard at NCAA
Jordan Fieulleteau is showing off a cupboard full of Swiss Miss and penne pasta.

Jordan Fieulleteau, a redshirt freshman wide receiver at UNC, wanted the NCAA to know what his cupboard looks like:

— jordan fieulleteau (@jordan_for6) July 22, 2014 Come on, kid, stop whining! You can make some great pasta with hot chocolate sauce and eat for days!
Who knows what Fieulleteau’s situation is -- maybe this is just a joke (update: he says it was), maybe he’s about to run out for groceries, maybe he gets all the food he needs at training table and doesn’t keep his pantry full. But I’m inclined to believe college athletes complaining about hunger at their word.
