Remember when Blake Griffin won the NBA Slam Dunk contest for finishing an alley-oop over the hood of a Kia? Well, he’s been one-upped by Brian Hogan-Gary, a 20-year-old from Staten Island who stole the show in a local slam dunk contest by jamming over a cop car:
Dunk over NYPD cop car makes New York playground go wild
Everybody thought the cops had come to kill the party, but really they were there to serve as a prop in a huge dunk.

Unsurprisingly, he won this dunk contest.
The Staten Island Advance reports many in attendance assumed the cops had showed up to ruin everybody’s good time and break up the game, but they were surprised:
One of the league’s founders, Joel Soto, asked cops patrolling the area if they wanted to help out in the tournament’s slam dunk competition by allowing one of the players to dunk over their car. They agreed, Soto said, after receiving permission from their commanding officer. The cop parked the car just in front of the hoop to the confusion of everyone standing. The Advance also points out that police-community relations are strained at the moment -- the NYPD has been criticized harshly for the death of Eric Garner, a 43-year-old who died after being put in a chokehold by a cop. Both Garner’s sons are in this league, although neither were in attendance for the over-the-cop-car slam.
