Abby Wambach’s professional soccer career came to an end on Wednesday, when she wore the USWNT jersey for the final time. Her teammates spent much of the game trying to set Wambach up with one final goal and while that didn’t come to pass, her teammates and the fans spent the entire game showing their appreciation.

It all started well before the game when Wambach shared a great moment with Shannon Boxx and Christie Rampone.
That was only the beginning, as the crowd greeted her with chants and signs before the game.
Wambach stayed in the game longer than many expected, likely trying to get another chance at a goal. When she did come out, she left the pitch for the final time in a very cool moment. She took off her shoes for the final time then walked off the field while getting hugs from all of her teammates while the crowd roared.
