Holy crap, the USA rugby sevens team beat New Zealand

On Friday, the United States rugby sevens team pulled off a stunning upset over New Zealand at the Dubai World Sevens. With virtually no time left, Folau Niua threw a lateral over to Perry Baker, and Baker avoided three tackles to score a try, which tied the game. Then team captain Madison Hughes made the conversion for another two points, kicking the ball from basically where an American football team’s bench would be.
New Zealand’s really good at rugby union, and especially sevens. Just look at how many championships they’ve won, per Wikipedia:
So yeah, the U.S. upsetting New Zealand is a pretty big deal. Friday’s win means they advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday, where they will take on defending champion South Africa.
