The 49ers can’t even fall on a football

Let’s break down this human game of “Hungry Hungry Hippos” you’re looking at. The 49ers punted and did an excellent job getting downfield to cover the punt. They had a chance to down the ball at the 1-yard line, but what ensued was a human mass of failure so vast a GIF could barely contain it.
One has to think the 49ers believed they could score a touchdown from this. The Bears returner did touch the ball, but after the 49ers did -- so it was never going to be a score. However, this means that at worst the 49ers believed they botched a touchdown and at best they were jumping on the ball for no reason, because it was going to be a touchback anyway.
