Making predictions is fun and all, but anyone can do it. So, rather than make my own call on who is going to win Saturday’s bout between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, that task has been handed over to a cat. Not just any cat, though: this particular feline has a history of predicting sports.
A cat predicts Manny Pacquimeow vs. Floyd Meowweather
Cats are natural fighters. Of course they can predict the boxing match of the century.
Meet Kitty Sanchez, or, if you’re already familiar with her feats, simply admire her radiance for a moment:
That second shot is Kitty putting on her game face, knowing the monumental task that lies ahead. You might recognize Kitty as one half of the duo that correctly predicted UConn would win the 2014 NCAA National Championship, or maybe you know her from her earlier work, predicting the 2013 baseball season. If you weren’t aware, those are the kitty creds, and they don’t stop there: her partner in prognostication, Winifred Burkle, took on the task of selecting the winning horse from the 2015 Kentucky Derby, also occurring on May 2.
Here’s how it works: we’ve got a sheet of paper with both Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao on it ...
... and on top of their visages, we placed cat treats:
Whichever pile of treats Kitty Sanchez mows down on represents the boxer she has chosen to come away victorious on Saturday, May 2. Simple enough, yeah? For the record, the treats and sheet were straightened out a bit before Kitty made her decision. We wanted a good, clean fight after all, you know.
Kitty made her decision swiftly, as if she had been thinking about it for a long time. Full disclosure: she laid on the bed staring at this photo for some time while Fred figured out the Derby winner, so maybe she did give it a lot of thought!
There you go, Manny Pacquiao is Kitty’s pick to win Saturday’s match! Wait, Kitty, you don’t need to eat the aw go ahead, you’re too cute to stop.
